In early 1944. throughout The Second World War, the Navy bought the majority of the land around Anaheim Landing to build the United States Navy's Naval Defense Station Seal Beach for packing, unloading, and storing of ammo for the Pacific Fleet, and specifically those United States Navy warships home-ported in Long Beach and San Diego.
