Steps to Earning a Full-Time Income From Writing, In Just 12 Months

As a writer, people often ask me how I earn money. You see, I am a full-time writer working from home, so to many people it looks like I don't work at all.

So how do I make money from my writing?

I write.

It really is that simple AND that difficult.

You see, working from home as a writer is so different than going out to work every day because I don't have a boss looking over my shoulder making sure that I turn up for work on time and that I get all my work done, so it's too easy (and tempting) to skip writing and goof off instead.

That's because the hardest part is actually siting down every day. So if you can do that then you can be earning a full-time income from your writing in just 12 months.

How do I know that you can?

Because many people have already done it, including myself.

But it's not easy and it takes hard work and means writing every day. And, like I already said, the hardest thing is actually making yourself apply backside to chair every day and get your writing done. If you can do that you're halfway there already.

And here are 3 steps to help you decide how you're going to earn money from your writing:

Make a 12 Month Writing Plan. Look at what you want to write. eBooks? Novels? Blogs? If you only want to write short pieces then blogging might be what you want to do, especially if there's a topic you're passionate about. Or maybe you want to write how-to eBooks or perhaps novels would be more your thing. Or you might prefer to freelance and write for other people, or be a scriptwriter or a copywriter. This is a choice that only you can make.
Decide How you'll Earn Money. You need to make money from your writing so you need to know how much money you need and how you'll earn it. How many books do you need to sell? How will you monetise your blog? How will you market your work? This is something you can research (Google) and brainstorm.
Ignore the Money and Work Your Plan. Once you know how many books you need to write or how you're going to make money from your blog or freelance work, etc, then you need to forget about the money and just work your plan and get your writing done. Worrying about the money will only distract you, so ignore it and keep writing.
What you need to do right now is to stop wasting time and start outlining your plan.

Don't waste another day.

Start now and by this time next year, if you've kept to your plan and written consistently every day, you should be in the enviable position of transitioning to becoming a full-time writer and earning all your income from your writing.

It's something I've never regretted doing and I'm sure you won't either.
